We’ve been told for decades about the benefits of regular exercise. The NHS says that regular physical activity can lower the risk of early death by up to 30% and drastically reduce the risk of major illnesses like heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes [1].
Yet according to Sport England’s Active Lives Survey, over 35% of adults are classified as inactive [2], and YouGov research shows that only 13% of the UK population holds a gym membership [3].
There is a huge stigma in society that getting fit requires running or lifting weights in a gym. That works for some, but for the other 87% of people, there has to be a better way.
Focus Calisthenics offers structured group classes designed to help you build strength, mobility and flexibility using nothing more than your own weight. We are not anti-gym; we are pro-movement. We want to help you build accessible habits you can practice anywhere, with anyone, at anytime.
When attempting something new or challenging, every point of friction increases the chance you’ll give up. We’ve designed Focus Calisthenics specifically to remove the common barriers between you and your movement:
Zero Equipment Needed: Forgetting equipment or even a change of footwear shouldn’t stop your workout. All you need is comfortable clothes, and we will provide high-quality mats and movement that relies entirely on your bodyweight.
45-Minute Efficiency: You shouldn’t have to sacrifice hours of your day to stay fit. The warm up, workout and cool down are all done within 45 minutes so you can get your movement in and get back to your life.
Flexible payments: Not everyone wants to be forced into a membership. Whether you prefer pay-as-you-go flexibility or structured class packs, we offer payment options that fit your actual schedule.
First class free: The first step is one of the hardest, and to congratulate you on yours, your first class with us is free.
Stimulating the senses triggers the body. We intentionally pair specific sounds, lighting, and scents with your training to create a positive neurological association with working out:
Sound: We work out to lively drum and bass music to help keep the vibes high. Even on days when you arrive feeling tired, your brain quickly pairs the rhythm with feeling energised and ready to move.
Lighting (Focus Environment): Our ideal class setting is dimly lit and illuminated by the colour of your class (Purple, Blue or Red). It’s bright enough to see your instructor, but subtle enough that you can focus on your own movement without feeling judged under bright fluorescent lights.
Aroma: Every mat is prepped with our signature Patchouli & Cedarwood spray. Over time, this natural aroma acts as a sensory anchor, instantly grounding you and resetting your focus the moment you step onto the mat.
